Internet Explorer 11 is here!

The new feel of Windows 8 is so radically different from the previous versions of Windows that many people are choosing to stay with Windows 7. It is said that at this very moment, Windows 7 is installed on half of the computers operating today world wide. It’s also said by Microsoft that Internet Explorer 11 is about to make everyone really happy and we can start using it today. I have never actually met anyone that was very happy with IE, but I am willing to give it a shot.

IE11 for Windows 7 is available for download in 95 countries. It includes the same performance and security updates that Windows 8.1 has been enjoying for the past few weeks. Microsoft says websites will load 9% faster than IE10 and 30% faster than the “competing browsers”, which is thanks to better Javascript performance.

Microsoft has also said that IE11 has “more effective security tools, citing statistics from NSS Labs”. In a recent study, it was said that IE11 blocks 92% of phishing attacks and malware attacks. Next in line would be Google Chrome, which was at 71%. Safari and Firefox are coming in way behind 37% and 35%.

Internet Explorer users sticking with Windows 7 will also benefit from the new standards of IE11. webGL is supported, now giving website developers more flexibility to more easily create highly visual sites than before. IE11 also supports HTML5 drag-and-drop and device awareness. Now, developers can create sites that are aware of the device they are running on. Neat!

Users already running the Internet Explorer 11 preview release will get an update in the next few weeks, but anyone can go download it right now if they would like. Check it out, give it a try, leave some comments.
