LG introduces what they call the first “real” curved smartphone

When it comes to smart phones, everyone is always looking for the latest and the greatest. Generally, you wouldn’t expect LG to be a huge contender in a market that Apple and Samsung have been dominating for years. Their new curved smartphone phone, the G Flex, may change that if it is actually as cool as it appears.

Unlike the Samsung Galaxy Round, the LG G Flex is curved vertically, as opposed to the horizontal curve of the Galaxy Round. Personally, I think this makes WAY more sense when taking comfort into account. Common sense also tells us that it will look way better when viewing videos or pictures in landscape mode. The most practical perk of the vertical curve though, aside from comfort, is that the microphone will always be in a better position while talking, resulting in clearer call quality.

The shape isn’t the only cool thing about the G Flex though. This bad boy has a 6 inch 720p display, a Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of ram and a 13 megapixel camera. Sadly, that is probably better than the computer I am on right now.

That’s not all, LG also claims that the elastic coating on the back of the phone is “self healing” and will fix minor scratches and scuffs on its own. I’d like to get one in my hands and put that one to the test myself. Not sure if I am fully capable of believing it until I see it. If that is however true, the perfectionist inside my may have just phone his dream phone.

The LG Flex comes out in Korea next month. No price has been set yet, and no release date for the rest of the world.
