AT&T has been working on its very own version of the quad-core LG Optimus G and has just announced that the device will go on sale starting November 2 for $199.99 with a new tw0-year agreement. In addition to that, the company announced that pre-orders for the device will also become available on Tuesday, October 16.
The $200 price tag puts AT&T’s Optimus G on par with a lot of the top smartphones currently on the market, including Samsung’s juggernaut Galaxy S III. Even better for AT&T is that some of the phones with similar prices offer slower processors with only 3G wireless connection. AT&T is offering the Optimus G on its 4G LTE network, which is expanding to 100 cities by the end of this year.
Sprint is also offering its own version of the Optimus G for its 4G LTE network, though with a 13MP rear camera instead of AT&T’s 8MP camera. Sprint also declined to announce a pricing plan or shipping date for its Optimus G, though both versions come with a 4.7″ display at 1,280 x 768 pixels.
What’s more is that both devices will also ship with the Android 4.0 operating system. Neither carrier divulged when the phone would be upgraded to the newest Android operating system, which is the 4.1 Jelly Bean version. The Galaxy S II has already started receiving this update, though it is slow going.
