HTC One XL and One S Getting Android 4.1 Treatment

HTC One XLIf you are an HTC One XL or One S user then you may be excited about what I am about to tell you (if you live in the land down under that is). According to the company, the HTC One XL and One S smartphones will be receiving an upgrade to Android 4.1 for all users in Australia.

An update page found on Australian mobile carrier Telstra notes that an Android 4.1, otherwise known as Jelly Bean, update is currently in progress for both smartphones. The carrier also notes that HTC is also preparing for the update but has not yet confirmed a date when the operating system will be sent to Testra for testing.

Aside from that, no other information was really released about the update in terms of availability (like other countries) or a release date, nor was there any mention of Android 4.1 coming to other HTC devices or for other carriers. However, HTC has revealed that it is currently tinkering with Jelly Bean, according to AndroidCentral.

During the Google I/O conference ┬álast month, HTC was quoted saying, “We are excited about Android Jelly Bean and are planning to support it across a variety of our devices. We are reviewing the software to determine our upgrade plans and schedule, so please stay tuned for more updates on specific device upgrade plans.”

Jelly Bean is slowly making its way through the Android scene. Google announced last week that its plethora of Nexus smartphones could receive the Android 4.1 update as early as July 10 but if that has happened, nobody has said anything about it. The company’s newest tablet, the Nexus 7, automatically comes with the new Android operating system directly out of the box.
