Google’s Tablet to Debut at I/O Conference

Google tabletAccording to recent reports, Google is planning on revealing its much-rumored tablet at the company’s I/O conference next month. TechnoBuffalo, which cites a “trusted source”, stated that Google will be showing off the new tablet at the conference which starts on June 27, 2012. In addition to that, it is rumored that Google will give a tablet to every developer at the conference.

But what is this mysterious tablet exactly? Well, according to TechnoBuffalo’s source, Google will be showing off a tablet with Nvidia’s quad-core Tegra 3 chip. In addition to that, the tablet is said to be partly developed by Asus. TechnoBuffalo was unable to confirm exactly which operating system the device will ship with, though some analysts are expecting it to come with Android 5.0, otherwise known as Jelly Bean.

The rumors about Google launching a tablet have increased dramatically in recent months, though those reports have been mixed over the exact timing of the release and what kind of features will be included. DigiTimes reported last week that the 7″ tablet will come out in July. However, NPD DisplaySearch analyst Richard Shim noted earlier this year that the device was coming out in April, which obviously didn’t happen.

Surprisingly enough, Google has been able to remain tightly closed up about its tablet. As is the case with almost every technology company out there, something about the product gets leaked. Whether it be early pictures or specs, nothing stays hidden forever. Google has done the best, at least in my opinion, with keeping nearly all the details about its tablet under wraps.

It seems like everybody is getting into the tablet industry these days as nearly every major name in the technology world has at least one device on the market. Google is just the latest to jump on the bandwagon though it will be interesting to see if the device can stand up against Apple’s iPad or other devices, like Samsung’s Galaxy Tab.
