Motorola Xoom Family Edition Hits Best Buy for $379

Motorola XoomMotorola is planning on launching the new Motorola Xoom Family Tablet this Sunday at Best Buy. This HD tablet is powered by Android 3.1 and comes with the award-winning Zoodles application, allowing parents to know that their children are safe from inappropriate content.

According to Corporate Vice President, Global Retail & Distribution, Motorola Mobility Jim Hamilton, “Nowadays, everyone from mom, dad to the youngest child uses the same tablet device. We set out to design a device that is kid and family-friendly yet versatile enough to handle your business needs. The Motorola Xoom Family Edition offers a world of games, shows and video tools and because it’s from Motorola, you know it’s durable and will last for years to come.”

The Motorola Xoom Family Edition comes pre-loaded with nearly $40 worth of apps and also features the award-winning Kid Zone by Zoodles, which locks the home button and allows your kids to only access the content you want them to.

Specs of the Motorola Xoom Family Edition include:

  • Android 3.1
  • 1GHz dual-core processor
  • 10.1″ HS IPS HD screen display with multi-touch
  • 5MP rear-facing camera with flash plus 720p webcam
  • Pre-loaded apps
  • 16GB built-in memory
  • 10 hour battery life
  • Access to the Android Marketplace

Tablets are great for kids, though giving them access to a tablet is like giving them access to a full-fledged computer. Parnets run the risk of children being exposed to the same things on a tablet that they could be exposed to online, things that you don’t want them to be exposed to. Motorola is trying to help parents out with this problem with the Motorola Xoom Family Edition. The Motorola Xoom Family Edition will be available exclusively at Best Buy on Sunday, October 16th for a limited time value price of $379.
